"A swarm of more than 200 earthquakes struck Yellowstone National Park over the past two weeks, but that probably doesn't mean the "big one" is coming anytime soon, according to geologists from the park."

“Historic and recent trends demonstrate that visitation will increase over the long-term, therefore, it is imperative for us to plan now,” said Superintendent Dan Wenk. “Good visitor use management will allow the park to protect resources, encourage access, and improve experiences.”



In order to generate revenue for desperately needed maintenance projects, the U.S. National Park Service (NPS) announced on Oct. 24 that they are considering raising entry fees at 17 of their 59 parks during peak visitation season. Further, the NPS has opened a 30-day period for public comment to debate the matter.




The number of acres burned in Yellowstone National Park during the 2017 fire season totaled about one acre.
